What nursing means to me
As the sun set on a stifling Port-au-Prince day in August 2021, a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter landed beside two others on the tarmac at the airport in the Haitian capital. On board the chopper with our Canadian Medical Assistance Teams (CMAT) advanced care paramedic were three critically injured patients airlifted from Les Cayes, a small city which was closest to the epicentre of the latest earthquake to strike the impoverished nation.
