International news

This spring, RNAO welcomed international visitors from China, Jamaica and Turks and Caicos to experience evidence-based nursing practice in the Canadian context. Li Jun (Jaylee) and Ye Jing (Meridith) are BPSO leads at Peking University First Hospital in China. They arrived in May for a two-month "study tour" to learn more about RNAO, its Best Practice Guidelines (BPG) and Best Practice Spotlight Organization® (BPSO®) programs, and health care in Ontario. “Even though we’re using the same BPGs, the context is different in China, and implementation looks different,” says Janet Chee, RNAO’s associate director for guideline implementation and knowledge transfer. “We’re learning from our visitors too. Sometimes the challenges are the same and sometimes they’re very different.”

Shauna-Kay Thompson and Sashika Walford are BPSO leads for Jamaica’s University Hospital of the West Indies. The pair also arrived in May for a one-week whirlwind visit that included RNAO’s 100th Annual General Meeting, the 23rd Annual Clinical BPG Institute and the International Advisory Council meeting at RNAO home office (see below for more on this).
