Connecting and collaborating during RNAO’s Fall Tour

To spark meaningful conversations about the future of nursing, health and health care, RNs, NPs and nursing students organized meetings as part of RNAO’s 11th Annual Fall Tour from Oct. 27 to Nov. 5, 2025.

Chapter, region and interest group members hosted these visits to discuss pressing issues, including: the vital health-care needs of Northern Ontario communities; the lack of access to primary care for more than three million Ontarians; the value of nurse practitioners; and the potential for team-based care from NPs and RNs to improve after-hours and weekend access to primary care and urgent-care services.

“The tour is a vital forum for nurses and nursing students to share their experiences, exchange ideas and engage directly with RNAO’s top leadership,” says RNAO President NP Lhamo Dolkar. “Nurses bring expertise and firsthand knowledge of how health and social policies impact their practice and the lives of the people they care for.”

President-Elect Sue LeBeau emphasizes the importance of listening to members. “Members have a wealth of knowledge about their practice and what has contributed to the success and gaps in the health-care system. This year’s Fall Tour was an opportunity to share ideas on how we can strengthen care and meet the needs of Ontarians,” she says.

CEO Dr. Doris Grinspun notes that members were excited this year to honour 100 years of action, impact and leadership. “Nurses have always led with purpose and impact, and 2025 is no exception. We continue to call on governments and health organizations to confront systemic inequities in health and provide stronger support for nurses and their patients.”

The tour also featured several site visits to health-care organizations in RNAO’s Best Practice Spotlight Organization® (BPSO®) Program. Frontline nurses, managers and executive leaders shared evidence-based practices, discussed workplace challenges and opportunities, and celebrated the legacy of the BPSO and Best Practice Guideline programs.
