Nurses celebrate the profession at special events during Nursing Week 2023

Nursing Week is an opportunity to shift the focus from patients onto nurses to recognize and honour our knowledge, compassion and dedication.

RNAO celebrated Nursing Week 2023 (May 8 – 14) with a variety of engaging and vibrant virtual events focused on the interests of nurses across all settings and sectors. With an overarching theme – Change Through Unity and Action – webinar topics ranged from RNAO’s Nursing Career Pathways report to the global impact of RNAO’s Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) program, to self-care strategies and more.

Alongside other Canadian nursing associations, RNAO launched its #HeyNurse social media campaign to encourage people to share messages of gratitude with nurses (read more about this initiative online). RNAO also kicked off its annual Take Your MPP To Work (TYMTW) initiative, arranging for elected officials to visit with nurses at a supervised consumption site, long-term care home and hospital during Nursing Week. TYMTW events continue into summer.

Many of RNAO’s chapters, regions without chapters and interest groups also held events – virtual, hybrid and in person – to celebrate their one-of-a-kind profession.

Here is a glimpse of some of the exciting events hosted throughout Nursing Week 2023 (in order of event date):
