After three consecutive virtual AGM celebrations due to COVID-19, this year’s annual gathering allowed members to once again come together at Toronto’s Hilton hotel. The event was full of electrifying energy, important conversations and inspiring calls to action.
Change Through Unity and Action was the theme, as members shared updates from their chapters, regions without chapters and interest groups, and discussed ways to improve the nursing profession and strengthen our not-for-profit, publicly funded health system.
This collection of photos highlights the activities from each day of the event. For the complete program, including this year’s resolutions, awards and voting results, visit the RNAO AGM 2023 portal.
Day 1: Opening ceremonies (June 22, 2023)
The opening ceremonies began with a procession, led by entertainment from Carnival Spice, a Caribbean dance and fitness performance team. Among the dignitaries in the procession: President Dr. Claudette Holloway, then immediate past-president Morgan Hoffarth, RNAO CEO Dr. Doris Grinspun, members of the board of directors, political leaders, international nursing colleagues and other special guests. After the lively dance session, attendees heard from elected officials representing Ontario’s four main political parties. A portion of the evening was dedicated to RNAO’s 20 graduating Best Practice Spotlight Organizations® (BPSO®), including six Indigenous-focused health organizations, 10 long-term care homes, two hospitals, a BPSO Host Francophone and the first academic BPSO host.
