It was an annual general meeting (AGM) like no other.

There was a visitor from nursing’s past, a beautiful tribute in the form of a song and a dynamic keynote presentation to inspire nurses about the power of their voices.

These were just a few key moments of RNAO’s 95th AGM, which took place June 11-13 and coincided with Year of the Nurse celebrations. The theme: Knowledge, Compassion and Courage.

This year’s event took place virtually, via Zoom, for the first time ever due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It drew 802 RNs, NPs, nursing students and guests, who joined then-President Dr. Angela Cooper Brathwaite, then-President-Elect Morgan Hoffarth, CEO Dr. Doris Grinspun and members of the board of directors.

Florence Nightingale thanks nurses for the modern-day battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. In her heart-felt message, Nightingale, portrayed by actor Cassidy Sadler, acknowledged nurses’ efforts during the Year of the Nurse.
