RN Keren Elumir provides care at Toronto’s Moss Park Consumption and Treatment Service. On a typical day, she responds to overdoses, oversees injections of substances, offers primary care and connects clients with other community services. A big part of her job – and the part she enjoys most – is providing a safe space and establishing connections along the way. “There's not much that makes me happier than sitting on the floor or the sidewalk together, catching up and being welcomed into peoples’ lives. I hear their ups, downs, joys and sorrows,” she shares. Right in the heart of downtown Toronto, Moss Park is not near a school or childcare centre, which means it’s one of the few remain...
