Before she took on her current role as senior director of evidence-based practice integration at Toronto’s Humber River Hospital, Nataly Farshait spent a decade teaching nursing students at Seneca College. When she’d run into her students after they’d transitioned to practice, they would often complain that the evidence-based practices they’d learned in school hadn’t been adopted in the workplace. So when Farshait was offered a position in 2016 that would allow her to implement best practice guidelines (BPG) across various specialties, she jumped at the chance. Humber was the perfect spot to integrate evidence at every level, she says. “It’s an amazing playground for knowledge translation.”...
