Clinical Practice
As I write this, I think back to the words of past-president Dr. Angela Cooper Brathwaite, who once wrote about the concept of “service” and “servant leadership.” She envisioned her role as serving and meeting the needs of members.

To me, nursing is a beautiful mosaic of art, science and intent. As nurses, we strive to find the harmony between mental, physical and spiritual health for our clients. We become a trusted member of their decision-making team, often in the most difficult situations.
The positive energy and enthusiasm at this year’s five-day International Council of Nurses (ICN) Congress – hosted in partnership with the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) in early July – was palpable. More people gathered and chatted in the venue hallways than I’ve seen ever before.

As nurses, we wield so much power. The power to heal, lift up, strengthen and inspire.
